Question:
I was at LL Bean this weekend and they have girls bathing suits with
"floaties" sewn into it ... hubby and I were trying to decide if this
was a great idea (no inflatable floaties, yay) or a bad idea (false
sense of security, kids might not know the difference between floatie
and non floatie suit, and go in too deep...)
What do you think? (Just curious.)
Answer:
I agree that they lead a child to have a false sense of security. A
while back on Dateline (or one of those shows), they did a story on swim
classes and talked about a child who used flotation devices and didn't
relize that he couldn't actually swim and he ended up drowning because of
it.
