We are moving into a new house with a swimming pool.
Can cats be trusted to wander around without falling in,
or should we keep the gate closed and the cats out?
What do other gentle website readers do?
Answer:
I had a huge pool when I had outdoor cats. Sometimes they fall in, although
I can't see how a pool fence would keep them out.
Gypsy used to love to sun herself on the diving board. She stretched out
and rolled over and fell righ in. Never fell in again after that.
My suggestion would be to keep an eye on them while they are by the pool for
the first few months or so. Nobody drowned in my backyard, but it would
depend on the cat.
