Question:
Have been looking all over for redwood/cedar hot
tub plans, to no avail. Books on the subject seem
to be out of print. Library's a no-go. Search on
the web and in this group fruitless. Anyone out
there know a source?
Answer:
The time's I've looked, there's been a relative dearth of info. I do
have a book or two that have tub plans in them, but they're of the
Sunset books variety, a little short on specifics. Some places, like
the one that sells wood fired tubs have photos of their kits. You can
get a look at the grooves and such they cut.
I think the big thing here will be to cut the croze and fit the floor
into it tight enough to not leak water. Another good place to see how
you might do that will be to look up some barrelmaking/coopering info
to see the shapes that are used, and then use that info to plan your
own.
There's no single source for a detailed "this is how to do it plan"
But the good part is that you're making a straight sided barrel, no
tapering to worry about.
