Answer:
I looked at softubs and decided against them. For one thing, they're a lot
shallower than a normal spa and have no seats - you just sit on the bottom,
which didn't seem all that comfortable. Part of the reason they're so much
cheaper is that they don't have a lot of the features of a normal spa. For
example, there's no drain plug, so you need to buy a separate pump to drain it,
no way to add an ozonator, run on 110V only and they don't really have a heater
- they use the waste heat from the pump for heating. If you use your spa
outside in winter, I calculate that it'll take app. 37 years to bring the tub up
to operating temperature when you refill it :-)
