What is the best brand name out there ? I've heard of Teledyne, Ray Pack,
Leslie, etc.
Answer:
The only manufacturer I am aware of which has factory service reps is Teledyne
Laars. Other manufacturers have training seminars and information for their
dealers, but no Factory reps that I know of. One of the main reasons for
choosing Laars heaters.
BTW- Leslies doesn't make their own heaters, they used to resell Laars
heaters, but now sell the Raypaks (I believe). If you buy from Leslies they
will give you the factory's number for warranty and service information... And
Typically the factory will try to get another dealer to come service your
pool. If you do not purchase anything else from that service dealer, the
incentive for them to give you priority service is ...
It's the dirty little unknown but common sense thing in the pool industry.
Sort of like the Office max, Staples... thing where they'll sell you the
computer/fax/copier, but you have to call the local dealer for service.
Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $50 to buy the stuff from a "real"
dealer, one who will give you service when you need it. It's much more
important than which heater you buy.
