Question:
, as long as saunas have been brought up, what is the ideal
>sauna room? E.g., a ceder-lined shack behind the house with a
>stove and ceder benches, about 3 meter square interior?
Answer:
I have been meaning to post on this for some time now, since winter
is here; the time that I like to enjoy a sauna. In the fall of 1988
I built a small sauna in my back yard a few steps away from my swimming
pool. I did not follow any preset plans, but had a rough idea of the
construction beforehand. The inside dimensions are 6'x7'x7' (2m x 2.3m x
2.3m). The walls are standard pine framing insulated with fiberglass
and lined with clear cedar paneling. The "L" shaped benches are clear
redwood, positioned at two levels. The floor is red ceramic tile over
a standard plywood and joist construction. Power for the light and stove
runs from the house through conduit burried 24" (.7m).
This is ideal for me, but I think a sauna is a personal thing. Many people
install saunas in their homes, close to showers and toilet facilities. I
chose to put mine outside so that I could cool off in the swimming pool and
have a separate area that I could be alone.
