Question:
There is one sure fire thing which I have found which always seems to
help with all of my aches and pains. A couple of times a year I drive
out to Idaho or down to New Mexico and spend a few days soaking away in
the natural hot springs which are common to those areas. I suspect that
it is probably the hot water, high mineral content of the water, and the
generaly dry climate of those areas which work against my symptoms.
Whatever it is, I always have a couple good, pain free and clear
thinking weeks after I return home. Has anyone else tried this and if so
did it work for you?
Answer:
I was writing a book called, "Hot Springs Within A Day's Drive Of
Denver". My main therapy when I was first diagnosed (1989) was going to any
of a number of hotsprings and spending a couple days soaking. I was totally
disabled for 11 months, but got so bored with too much time on my hands. So
I went back to work. Anyway, the book never got finished, because as I
researcehed and then drove to many hotsprings, I would find them fenced off,
or dynamited, or otherwise closed. Ususally it was some well meaning
government that didn't want naked people at the hotsprings to offend the
upright citizens. I have one favorite spring that I spent four days at
without ever seeing another person. It is out in the boonies in Arizona,
and had thousands of Neon Tetras swimming in it in school formation. As
they changed direction, the flash or color would be so cool. The spring is
104 degrees and pours out of a 3 inch plastic pipe from about 3-4 feet
high.
